A numbers guy who found his sweet spot

Hi! I am Hunter, the CEO and co-founder of The CBD Joint. My love for numbers and statistics has always been at the core of my identity. As a child growing up in Los Angeles, I found great joy in solving complex math problems and modeling numerical data. Most 4 year old kids want to play with hot wheels or watch cartoons… I made my dad make me a Microsoft Excel workbook with some basic math functions, which I would spend hours with.

Although a career in STEM seemed all too likely for someone like me, I’m equally passionate about engaging with people and unleashing my creativity. An avid guitar player since I was 12 years old, I knew going into college at San Diego State University that my creative side would serve me well if I continued to foster it.

While pursuing my Marketing degree, my first foray into entrepreneurship began at SDSU, where I started my own business during my senior year. Although it didn’t succeed as I had hoped, I do not consider it a failure. This experience taught me invaluable lessons and was the catalyst that sparked my interest in the digital landscape.

I got my first post-graduation job at a small digital marketing and web development agency. Initially hired for business development, I quickly began taking on web development, content creation and technical marketing work within my first month. Wearing many hats, I was quickly exposed to the entirety of what it takes to create and manage successful, integrated, omni-channel campaigns. While most first year digital marketing professionals were stuck working in one vertical, such as SEO or SEM, I was doing it all while developing websites and creating optimization strategies.

Over the next 8 years, I leveraged this unique path to work for other small start-ups in the digital space. Each stop widening my breadth of knowledge while increasing depth of experience. I have been blessed with incredible bosses and mentors throughout my whole career, which enabled me to amplify my skill set rapidly. Today, I am a highly effective, digital marketer and web developer, committed to using my experience to improve the wellbeing of others through the web. This is all to say, my unique path is what led to my passion for projects such as this.
